A delegation from the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) recently paid a visit to Satellite Africa (SatAfrik) as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the media and technology institutions working to advance Africa’s digital infrastructure.
During the visit, the leadership of SatAfrik welcomed the delegation and shared insights into the company’s vision, operations, and long-term plans for satellite communications and technology services across Africa.
The Board Chairman of SatAfrik, Mr. Harry Sintim-Aboagye, explained that the company is an indigenous Ghanaian organization committed to becoming one of the most trusted and reliable brands in Africa’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector. He noted that SatAfrik aims to expand its footprint across Sub-Saharan Africa, providing innovative satellite-based solutions that support connectivity, security, and communication services.
Mr. Sintim-Aboagye also briefed the delegation on the company’s recent sod-cutting ceremony at Boi, which marks the beginning of a major project aimed at delivering uninterrupted satellite communication services to clients across the region. According to him, the project represents a significant milestone not only for SatAfrik but also for the development of advanced satellite infrastructure in Africa.
He expressed appreciation for the visit and encouraged the media to help promote awareness about the importance of satellite communication technologies in supporting economic development, security operations, and digital transformation across the continent.
The GJA President, accompanied by the association’s Organising Secretary, Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, commended SatAfrik for its initiative and emphasized the importance of partnerships between the media and technology companies in promoting innovation and national development.
Mr. Dwumfuor, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Atinka Media Village, praised the establishment of a satellite communications company in Ghana, noting that the industry requires more local participation to improve competitiveness and technological advancement.
Also present at the meeting were members of SatAfrik’s leadership team, including senior executives and technical officers who shared details about the company’s services and future expansion plans.
The visit highlighted the growing collaboration between media institutions and technology companies working together to promote innovation, connectivity, and digital progress in Africa.
